The Chicken Recipe That Promises to Help You Get Engaged

— -- Love is in the air this week, and with it many hopeful men and women, such as 27-year-old Hila Raz.

Raz and her boyfriend Zach have been dating for nearly five years, but this Valentine’s Day, she’s hoping for a little more than chocolates and roses. Raz is looking for an engagement.

Enter the “engagement chicken,” created by a fashion editor at “Glamour” magazine over 30 years ago.

The recipe calls for lots of lemon and herbs to pump up the flavor, and Guarnaschelli credits the lemon juice with helping create steam to cook the chicken in the oven.

“Glamour” says the secret of the recipe is in the juices that collect in the bottom of the roasting pan during cooking – they call them the “marry me juices,” and instruct cooks to pour them on top of the sliced chicken.

“Everybody eats chicken all the time, but this chicken recipe is simple and it makes something every day really special, and I think that’s what you’re going for here,” Guarnaschelli said to Raz on “GMA.” “Whether you need it for luck or just the joy of moving into and building a new home, this chicken has a simple but magical way about it that I hope will work for you. If this doesn’t say honey I love you, I don’t know what does.”

Raz plans to serve the chicken to her boyfriend on Saturday.

“We’re going to let the chicken work its magic. I love making chicken, so it could be like the ‘child chicken’ or ‘baby chicken’ or ‘future new home chicken,’” she said on “GMA.” “I think at the end of the day, when you’re cooking with love and intent it yields positive things.”
