Couple Poses For Cheeky Photo Shoot With Newborn Puppy

Photographer Elisha Minnette explains how she thought of the funny photo shoot.

— -- A couple on their way home from picking up their new dog at the breeder decided to have a little fun with the way new parents post photos of their newborn babies on social media.

The couple, Abby Lee and Matt Kay, enlisted their friend, photographer Elisha Minnette, to spend a Sunday afternoon photographing them with their new dog, Humphry, in the same poses familiar to anyone who has seen the results of a newborn baby shoot.

“We came up with the idea to do a puppy shoot when we were on the long drive home from picking him up from a specific Groodle breeder,” Minnette said of Humphry, a Golden Retriever and Poodle mix. “Abby and I have the craziest sense of humour and we feed off of each other with ideas, literally always thinking and discussing ideas (funny ones).”

The Australia-based Minnette describes the shoot as “hilarious” and smooth, adding that Humphry enjoyed all the attention.

“The pup was enjoying every second of it, and all the treats he was getting,” Minnette told "Good Morning America" by email.

The puppy photo shoot quickly went viral after Minnette and the couple posted it on Facebook, just as new parents would do. Minnette’s Facebook post alone has been shared over 11,000 times since last week.

“We did not expect this to get as big as it has,” she wrote. “We did this shoot just for a little bit of humor between ourselves and our closest family and friends that has the same sense of humor as us."
