Couture Cookies Recreate the Most Iconic Oscars Dresses in Edible Form
See cookie forms of Julia Roberts, Reese Witherspoon, Angelina Jolie and more.
-- It can be hard to find the intersection of food and high fashion, but some pastry chefs have found a way. In a playful stop-motion animation, cookies modeled after some of the most iconic Oscars dresses walk down a red velvet cake runway.
Conceived by the International Culinary Center’s director of pastry operations chef Jansen Chan, the video shows dresses worn by Julia Roberts, Reese Witherspoon, Angelina Jolie and more.
The cookies are made of sugar paste and sweet cookie dough, taking eight hours each to construct.
“We came up with our top eight looks that would be a variety of colors, patterns and textures, as well as a span of time so not all too recent to get a good representation of dresses that would be recognizable and iconic,” Chan told ABC News. “We wanted to capture that but make it fun, and with stop-animation it’s fun and playful.”
Here are the eight looks:
Julia Roberts, 2001
Michelle Williams, 2006
Reese Witherspoon, 2013
Halle Berry, 2002
Lupita Nyong’o, 2014
Nicole Kidman, 2007
Angelina Jolie, 2013
Penelope Cruz, 2007
