Dad Creates 'Toddler for Sale’ Listing in Response to Son's Early Wake-Ups

Kevin Davies created the listing after his son wouldn't stop waking up at dawn.

— -- One dad is getting lots of laughs in the U.K. after he posted a fake ad, listing his toddler for sale on Jan. 11.

Kevin Davies, 28, of Liverpool told ABC News that he created the listing titled "Toddler Alarm Clock" and posted it in the Liverpool Bargain Bay classifieds, after his son Archie, 1, wouldn't sleep past the early hour of 5:30 a.m.

"It was a joke, but it was kind of reality because this is what time he wakes up," Davies said. "I was putting it out there so other people could react to it, but I didn’t expect the attention it received. People in Liverpool have a good sense of humor, so I was kind of hoping they'd take it that way."

Davies, a dad of three, said for a while now, Archie has been waking his mom and dad each morning around dawn.

"The first thing he does, he's out of his crib and he wants his toast," Davies said, laughing. "He goes straight to where the bread is. We've been doing it for a long time. We just laugh it off because there's nothing we can do. He's probably going to do it until he’s at least 21, if he's still home when he's that age...but I hope not."

In the "Toddler Alarm Clock" post, Davies marks the listing price at "FREE," writing:

"Priceless alarm clock....no need to set ur [your] alarm for work at 6am because u [you] will already be up at 5:30am with this little one. Breakfast? No problem, he will have you making toast at 5:35am to start your day on a nice full belly."

Over 240 people liked the post, which quickly captured local media attention.

"Family and friends saw the post and sent me messages [saying,] 'Hey, that's pretty funny,'" Davies said. "[Archie] is just a big ball of energy. He's adorable and has a very cheeky, but funny personality. He's a joy to call my son. Plus, he is a free alarm clock and I'm never late for work in the morning."
