Designer Duds From Oprah Winfrey’s Closet up for Auction on eBay
Items up for grabs include designer dresses, shoes and a Stetson.
— -- Media mogul Oprah Winfrey is known for possessing some of the most exquisite designer clothes and accessories, and now she’s inviting the public to own some of those items directly from her own closet.
Winfrey is partnering with eBay to auction more than 200 pieces from luxury designers including Alexander McQueen, Badgley Mischka, Chanel, Dolce and Gabbana and Manolo Blahnik. All proceeds will benefit The Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls, a boarding school in South Africa for academically gifted girls from disadvantaged backgrounds.
Among the items that are up for grabs are dresses which Winfrey has worn in cover images of “O” magazine and on episodes of “The Oprah Winfrey Show;” a Stetson which Winfrey wore in 2009 on a trip with her best friend, Gayle King for “Oprah and Gayle's New Adventure: The Biggest State Fair in America”; a jeweled top from Oscar de la Renta and shoes by Ralph Lauren.

Vincent Payen, head of selling at eBay, appeared live on “GMA” on Tuesday to offer some advice for viewers to help them tackle their own spring closet cleaning jobs.
PAYEN’S TIPS
1. Use designs you love to steer clear of clutter.
It's important that you can see some wall space behind your wardrobe – keep it open and airy, and add your own aesthetic to your closet. One way to do this is to look for easy-to-apply wallpaper in colors and patterns that you love. Many eBay sellers specialize in wallpaper and interior design – just look for the top-rated seller indication, he suggested.
2. Make the most of closet space.
Plan out the most ample and feasible use of space in your closet. If your closet rod hangs higher than normal, opt for low shelving. If you don't have a closet rod, check out easy-to-install closet rod inserts. Payen said eBay offers a variety of closet rod inserts as well as versatile hangers designed for clothing as well as belts, jewelry and other accessories.
3. Organize your shoes.
Shoe racks are everyone’s best friend. If you want your shoes to be around for a long time, keep them off the floor and dust-free. Payen suggested shoe racks that double as a storage bench or wooden racks that sit low to the ground and fit in the bottom of small spaces, including small closets.
