-- A kitchen is a space that can easily become cluttered no matter how beautiful it is. Adding storage to your wall like a do-it-yourself pegboard is a simple and inexpensive way to declutter your kitchen countertops. And with the ability to add flowers, photos or art to the board, it can also be a great way to accessorize your space.
Follow the instructions below to make the pegboard yourself.
Kitchen Pegboard
Materials:
2 - Cans of Spray Paint (colors of your choosing)
1 - Pegboard (2 foot by 4 foot)
1 - Package of Assorted Steel Pegboard Hooks
2-3 - Metal Pegboard Baskets
Instructions:
1. Spray Paint Your Items: Select two different paint colors, one for your pegboard and one for your baskets. Spray your pegboard with one coat of paint and let it dry. If needed, spray the pegboard with a second coat. Spray the baskets with a different color to give your board an accent color.
2. Mount or Lean Pegboard On Wall: Depending on your space, either mount or lean your pegboard against a wall. Choose a location in your kitchen that is easily accessible so it will make it easy to grab the items you need while cooking or entertaining.
3. Configure Your Hooks and Baskets: Hang the hooks and baskets in a pattern on the board that will be both visually appealing and functional. Make sure to have a space for things that you commonly reach for while in the kitchen. Hooks and baskets can hold everything from salt and pepper to cooking utensils.
4. Add Accessories and Utensils: Remove items from your countertop and add to your board. You can also add items like photos, artwork, favorite quotes and/or plants to add a personal touch and a pop of color. Once you are pleased with the look of your pegboard consider your kitchen decluttered!!
