Easy, Colorful DIY Easter Projects the Whole Family Can Do

Here are four quick DIY Easter projects the entire family can enjoy.

— -- With less than one week until Easter Sunday, “Good Morning America” and Yahoo are teamed up to share creative ideas for DIY crafts that involve the entire family.

Yahoo's Katie Brown appeared on “GMA” today as part of Yahoo Your Day, a collaborative series between “GMA” and Yahoo’s experts.

Brown, Yahoo Makers' editor-in-chief, showed viewers how to make specially-designed Easter eggs, rabbit-shaped napkin holders and gloves, and how to decorate a store-bought cake to reflect the holiday theme.

The projects were affordable and used items that could be easily had from a craft or grocery store, or from around the house.

EASTER CAKE

If you want a beautiful, custom Easter cake but you don’t want to spend a fortune on it, you can dress up an inexpensive store-bought cake to make it look like it cost way more than you paid. Here's how:

Materials

Store bought frosted cake

Chocolate, candy coated Easter eggs (such as Robin’s Eggs)

Kit Kat bars

Tube of decorator’s icing

Ribbon

Armature wire

Instructions

1. Break your Kit Kat bars into sets of two sticks, and using a little decorator’s icing to secure them, line them up all around the outside of your store bought cake.

2. Secure the Kit Kat ‘basket’ with a ribbon and tie a nice big bow.

3. Top the cake with a mound of chocolate eggs.

4. Twist your Armature wire to form a handle and press either end into the cake, just between the chocolate basket and the actual cake.
