One Fashion Designer Is Using Waste to Create Handbags, Wallets and Clothes

Alexandra Hackett takes things like McDonald's bags and makes them fashionable.

Alexandra Hackett and her brand ALCH have created these one-of-a-kind items.

"My practice focuses on appropriating the function of preexisting textiles -- often materials that are not traditionally associated with the fashion industry -- into apparel and accessory design," Hackett, 24, told ABC News. "My work explores the concept of the body as a product and clothing as a form of product packaging."
