'GMA' 'Hot Mess Express' Does an Apartment Makeover

Design expert Will Taylor helps take the living room from drab to fab.

There were games everywhere, junk under the couch, mismatched decor and a seriously scary bar.

Producer Ganss shares his apartment with his two female college friends-turned-roommates, Kerry Flynn and Amy Snopek.

All three had a ton of stuff, but with the help of design expert Will Taylor, the dwelling was cleared of all clutter. Next, the boring white-painted walls got a fresh coat of gorgeous color.

To spruce up an old table, pops of colorful paint were used, along with paint tape for a geometric design.

Taylor, whose design book, "Dream Décor," will be released on May 17th, said to remove the painter's tape when the paint is still wet, to get a clean finish.

Then, the team utilized leather belts and white-painted wood to transform a cleaned-out closet. The belt buckles were cut off and the leather loops were nailed in to the wall. The plywood then slid in to create stylish shelves for storage.

Meanwhile, the wall was covered in wallpaper with a botanical design as a statement to pull together all the elements of the room. With busy patterns, less is more, Taylor said.

Next, it was time to fill the room.

For the final touches, Taylor used the colored spines of books to add color to shelves. The windowsill was also filled with pillows to create a whole new seating area.

During the big reveal, Will and his two roommates couldn't believe their eyes.

"Oh my gosh," Ganss said.

"I love that it is so cozy," Flynn said.

In the end, there was a place for everything, an upgraded bar and a fine place to dine.
