Harry Potter-Loving Dad Creates Spellbinding 3-D Nursery for Baby Boy
The Morton, Illinois, couple hired a 3-D muralist to create the magical nursery.
-- When Kaycee Daniel found out she was pregnant, her husband insisted on one thing: a Harry Potter-themed nursery.
“My husband’s the big Harry Potter fan,” Kaycee of Morton, Illinois, told ABC News of his literary infatuation. “As soon as we found out I was pregnant, he knew right away he wanted to do the Harry Potter nursery.
“But I didn’t want to do something cheesy, so I was thinking in my mind we could do more like a generic castle. He was showing me some ideas on Pinterest and I was slowly coming around to the idea and, finally said, ‘Ok, I could come around to this.’”
The soon-to-be parents hired 3-D muralist Nate Baranowski, who transformed the magical room in just five days.
“We had already lined up to get Nate to do a mural in our garage before I knew I was pregnant,” she explained. “But then were like, ‘Wait, we’re going to have a baby, so let’s do the nursery instead.’ I wanted the blocks on the wall like a castle wall, and I wanted a window looking out, but he took the window and completely blew it out of the water. We really lucked out. The pictures don’t even do it justice.”
The result is absolutely Gryffindorable.
“I still don’t feel like, when I go in there now, that this is really in our house,” Kaycee said. “I can’t believe it. It seems crazy because it’s pretty over the top for most nurseries. But we love it.”
Her husband, Casey, couldn’t be more pleased to raise his little wizard-in-training in such an inspiring environment.
