Houston Firefighter's Alarming Marriage Proposal
Jesse Gonzalez's firefighter buddies helped him stage a fake fire.
June 6, 2014 -- When Houston Police Officer Olga Peck was dispatched to help out on a fire call she did not expect that her firefighter boyfriend, Jesse Gonzalez, would be waiting at the scene with an engagement ring.
There was no fire. Gonzalez, an 11-year Houston Fire Department veteran, staged a fake fire call Wednesday to propose to Peck. His fellow firefighters helped Gonzalez put on a convincing show, producing smoke and appearing with him in their uniforms.
When Peck arrived, she found two firetrucks with alarms screeching parked outside a smoky house. Gonzalez emerged from the house in full firefighting gear, walked up to Peck, got down on one knee, produced a diamond ring and asked her to marry him.
She said yes.
Gonzalez recorded the his proposal and uploaded it on YouTube.

“Babe, if you’re watching this, I want to tell you that I love you. I can’t wait to marry you and I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with you,” Gonzalez said in the video.
A Houston Fire Department spokesman told ABC News that the department was aware of Gonzalez's alarming proposal and that it was staged within the firefighters’ area of duty. The firefighters were listening to their radios the entire time and monitoring any possible calls.
