Mom Spoofs Meghan Trainor's 'No' With Her Kids
Tara Brough was inspired by the many times she says "no" to her kids.
-- Meghan Trainor may have been singing about adult men in her hit single “No,” but a mom in Arizona has found the song’s lyrics apply perfectly to her toddler-age kids as well.
The mom, vlogger Tara Brough, of Gilbert, Arizona, released a YouTube video that shows all the times a mom has to say "n-o" to her kids.
“I kept hearing the song on the radio and it was so catchy it got stuck in my head,” Brough, 26, told ABC News. “As I’m humming it I’m telling my 4 year old no about this or that.”
She added, “I realized I was singing at the same time I was saying no.”
Brough’s two children, 4-year-old Porter and 2-year-old Piper, are the stars of the video, hearing the word “no” as they try to jump on the bed, use an iPad and pour cereal on their own, among other things.
"All my mommies listen up / If that kid won't give it up / Purse your lips hands on your hips / And all you gotta say is / My answer is no," Brough sings in the video.
The video was shot over the course of three days with assistance from Brough’s parents and sister. Her husband, Zach, makes a cameo at the end of the video, when he is seen saying “yes” to Porter.
The video has more than 150,000 views on YouTube.
“As a parent you have to say no to your kids so often because they’re trying new things all the time,” Brough said. “The video addresses it in a lighthearted way that moms can appreciate and laugh at.
“It’s a sad thing to say no all the time,” she added. “It’s not fun.”
