— -- Boxford Police Department live-tweeted a rescue of two pups that got stuck inside an underground drainage pipe in Boxford, Massachusetts.

Emergency crews responded to a call at a home Thursday afternoon and found the two dogs 65 feet below ground.

"The little dog figured out that he could go in and come back out and the big dog followed him," Boxford Police Department Chief James Riter told ABC News.

Firefighters, animal control officers and police had to bring out a trench box and an excavator to dig their way to the pups.

The smaller of the two dogs managed to get out first. Later, with a pipe camera, the crew was able to nudge the larger dog until he backed himself out of the pipe.
