Prank on Pizza Delivery Guy Goes Viral and Backfires, Prompting Public to Raise Thousands

— -- Of all things, a pizza delivery has sparked a viral firestorm this morning. Delivery guy Jarrid Tansey was berated by people at a Westport, Mass. car dealership after dropping off pizza to them, all of which was caught on video.

“Close the door before I put my foot in your (expletive),” one of the workers said to Tansey.

“Get the [expletive] owner and the manager on the phone,” another person said.

The poor treatment started after Tansey delivered the pizza and the group paid their $42 bill, plus gave him an extra $7, which he assumed was a tip.

“I initially ... walked out of there with a smile thinking I got a good tip,” Tansey said on “Good Morning America.”

But that smile quickly vanished when he got a call from the dealership telling him to return with the change.

The dealership’s security camera was rolling as two people ripped into Tansey, even threatening to get him fired.

That video was then posted online -- Tansey believes to further embarrass him -- but the move backfired. The dealership’s Yelp page is now flooded with people calling Tansey’s tormenters “arrogant, rude, dismissive” and more.

"It just doesn’t make sense,” Tansey said. “Why you would hand me a bill that you were just gonna have me drive back here to give you back anyway?"

The owner of the dealership has since apologized, saying in a statement that he’d “like to offer a cash donation” to Tansey, something the public apparently also wants to do.

A GoFundMe page has been started for Tansey, already raising more than $15,000, largely in increments of $7 to signify the amount he initially received.

“It’s just nice to know that people feel so strongly about something to do something about it,” Tansey said.

As for the car dealership employees? According to the owner, the man seen belittling Tansey didn’t work there, but the woman has since been fired.
