Pump-Washing Rapper Photo Goes Viral, Moms Swoon

— -- Safe to say that when rapper George Moss posted a photo of himself washing his wife's breast pump earlier this week, he had no idea about the avalanche of attention that would follow.

His follow-up posts made it clear that, in his estimation, what he did was no big deal. He wrote on his Facebook page:

"So earlier yesterday I accidentally had a post “go viral” of me cleaning #breastpump bottles for my wife backstage after a performance. What I thought was just a funny little tongue and cheek joke, turned out to mean a lot more to over a million people (& counting). My Facebook page blew up with such amazing positive comments telling me how awesome I am, and how I’m such a great dad, and countless other positive words of affirmation. I appreciate every single one of them, and I tried my best to keep up with em, but it’s kinda out of hand now and I got other stuff to do lol.

"Although I appreciate the love, likes, and kind words (and even the few party poopers that the internet undoubtedly produces), its absolutely CRAZY that this all happened because I washed a couple bottles. If anyone should get the credit it should be people like my wife! She has been on the road with me for the past few days and worked just has hard as me or any other crew person I’ve ever worked with, on top of doing all the other things a great mom and wife does (namely nursing our 5 month old baby, and pumping milk for him on a regular basis). This woman AMAZES me! Through all the pain & soreness, frustrations, stress, etc. of trying to breast feed and pump, she gets up in the middle of the night to nurse a hungry baby…and in the middle of me writing this post, she finished nursing him and then made me a late night snack too!"

The post goes on praising women who breast-feed. And Moss, who in his Twitter profile describes himself as a "Christ follower," then followed up in the comments by apologizing if he offended any mom who did not breast-feed, whatever the reason. He wrote:

"When you accidentally step on someones toe and hurt them. I believe it’s your responsibility to apologize and ask for forgiveness. And then make the effort to not do it again."

Moss told ABC News his wife is unimpressed by his notoriety, on-stage and online. "Fame of any kind doesn't impress her much. Rather I'm on stage in front of a few thousand people, or doing an interview with ABC News, what she loves about me is that I love God, I love her, and I love my family. The rest of all this is inconsequential to her."

He also posted a photo of his wife breast-feeding their son:

Moss' pump-washing photo has been "liked" 42k times and shared more than 7k times. And while he is clearly supportive of his wife's breastfeeding, he said he "never looked at it that way. We support each other in every way. Breastfeeding is only one of a multitude of things we do that we think is best for our family. So I support her by praying for her, working hard to provide for our family as a small-name Christian rap artist, cooking meals, taking out the garbage, and all the other things that normal husbands do for their wives and family, which includes washing breast pumps from time to time in our case."

He talked to ABC News from the road; Moss is playing at the Big Ticket Festival in Gaylord, Michigan today. He tool about a year off from touring to focus on family and is just now getting back on the road and writing songs for a new album. "I have to be a lot more selective about touring now then I was before I got married, because it can really be a strain on any relationship, especially a marriage."

Moss' main focus though, he said, is not making music or breast-feeding. It's creating a bible teaching/training program through a new ministry he started called OXEN Team Ministries.
