Former 'Spy Town' Sugar Grove Station Up for Auction in West Virginia

Sugar Grove Station, West Virginia, is a former U.S. Navy military base run by the National Security Agency about 2 1/2 hours from Washington, D.C. Though there are still government operations nearby, the base was no longer needed to house staff and was closed in 2015.
According to Top Ten Real Estate Deals, the 122-acre town includes 80 homes, a fire station, a day care center, a swimming pool, a soccer field, tennis courts and more.
Under the headline "United States Spy Town Auction," the website reads, "Though the array of giant parabolic dishes that continue to track location and content of international telecommunications activity is still in operation and not part of the sale, they are completely obscured from view behind thick forest on their ridgetop one mile distant."
Interested parties can attend an open house scheduled for next week.
The auction is being handled by the General Services Administration, a government agency designed to "to streamline the administrative work of the federal government." According to the auction listing, there have been no bidders on the property. The minimum bid has been set at $1 million.
