Stressed Over Dressing, Woman Decides to Wear Same Look for Work Every Day

— -- When it comes to office attire, do you channel your inner fashionista or go for a more tailored look?

For some people, getting dressed for work isn’t a pleasure. Matilda Kahl, a 27-year-old art director at a Manhattan ad agency, used to dread dressing for the office.

“I constantly was like, ‘Well, is this skirt too short? Is this T-shirt too formal?” she said, adding that the process was “so stressful.”

Things changed when Kahl decided to wear the same thing every day.

Kahl, who wrote about her experience for Harper’s Bazaar magazine, told “Good Morning America” that her uniform – black pants, a white shirt, and a little black bow – has saved her lots of money and time.

She has about 15 white shirts and seven black pants, which she mixes and matches. Kahl, who loves to wear colorful clothes after work and on the weekends, says she never gets bored of her uniform because she spices it up with different shoes.

It’s a bold fashion decision for someone who works in an office where there is no dress code.

“I must say, I-- I stand out amongst my friends here, for sure,” she said. “I can't tell you how liberating it is. And I don't think you understand exactly how much time and effort you put into choosing clothes until you don't have to choose.”

Asked how long it takes her to get dressed for work in the morning, she replied: “About 45 seconds,” then added, laughing: “About a minute – if you add the mascara.”
