Tiny Kitten Rescued From Hurricane Matthew Wears Tube Sock Sweater
The kitten was given a cozy tube sock sweater and a new home.
-- A tiny sock-wearing kitten melted hearts on Sunday amid the deadly damage of Hurricane Matthew.
Twitter user @crysomemore posted pictures of the adorable kitten that have now been re-tweeted more than 60,000 times. The kitten is seen wearing a cozy makeshift sweater fashioned from a tube sock.
The Twitter user was visiting her local Pet Smart in Raleigh, North Carolina, to buy a tag for her cat. She says she noticed a father and two children looking at the adoption section when an employee brought out the kitten for them.
Someone had brought the kitten to PetSmart’s Banfield Pet Hospital the previous day, when the torrential downpour of Hurricane Matthew was at its peak.
"The vet assistant brings her out and both he and his kids are OBVIOUSLY IN LOVE," the Twitter user wrote in her post.
After getting permission from mom, the family immediately adopted the kitten and bought the supplies needed for her.
Hurricane Matthew, the most powerful Atlantic storm since 2007, killed more than 500 people in Haiti and at least 28 in the U.S. More than 1,000 Americans are still stranded because of the storm.
