Virgin Australia Looking for Owner of 'Lost Love' Engagement Ring

Virgin Australia has turned to social media to find the ring's owner

— -- If you were flying through Australia and lost an engagement ring, Virgin Australia wants to hear from you.

The airline tweeted Wednesday an alert that an engagement ring had been found in its Melbourne Lounge at the Melbourne Airport.

The airline did not say when the ring was found or provide a photo of the ring, presumably to help weed out any diamond seekers who were not necessarily in love.

“It’s rare for such valuable items to not be collected which is why we are taking this unique approach to try to find them,” a Virgin Australia spokeswoman said in a statement on the airline’s website.

So far the tweet has been retweeted 243 times. Among the replies, at least one who tweeted, “Found it, it’s mine.”

One Twitter user’s reply that she had lost a diamond band in the Melbourne Lounge at one point was serious enough to warrant a reply from Virgin asking that she contact the airline directly.

There was no word on whether that connection resulted in a happy ending.

The airline is asking for anyone with information to contact them directly or through Twitter.
