Worldwide Wedding Wrap Up: Couples Say ‘I Do’ in Live Weddings From Scotland to Disney World
Couples are tying the knot live across the globe. Join the celebrations!
-- It's a nice day for a white wedding, indeed!
Couples are saying ‘I Do’ all over the world in the “Good Morning America” “Wide World of Weddings” epic 24-hour, live-stream event. The newlyweds are head over heels for each other, tying the knot in romantic ceremonies across the globe.
Congratulations to all the happy newlyweds!
Take a look at some of the joyous nuptials around the world so far:
Gretna Green, Scotland:
Karin Rose and Stephen Berry entered matrimony in an intimate Scottish ceremony. They met in Spain 12 years ago. It's a historic tradition at Gretna Green for the couples to partake in the "handfasting" ceremony, where the officiant, who in olden days was a blacksmith, would seal the marriage by bringing his hammer down upon the anvil where their hands are joined. Gretna Green was a location where couples would flee to get married in a "quickie" ceremony. The venue still continues the tradition today.
Rose joked, “I’ll never forgive the girl who introduced me [to him].”
“Good Morning America” Times Square Studio:
Three couples tied the knot outside the “GMA” studio in New York City’s bustling Times Square.
Shawn Fitchett and Crystal Penix of Fletcher, North Carolina, are clearly so in love with each other, already overcoming obstacles in life while she bravely fought cervical cancer with Fitchett by her side. Scott Terry and Meagan Jordan, of Savannah, Georgia, fell in love as sophomores in college. They knew they wanted to get married in a big way, so naturally getting hitched in New York City live on “GMA” was a perfect fit. Jason Nienhaus and Mel Marasch of Appleton, Wisconsin, said “sparks flew instantly” when they first met at a graduation party in May 2014.
Yolanda and Gabriel had the sweetest vows in our Times Square studio, also. Gabriel was so prepared with his touching, personal words for Yolanda written on his phone. Yolanda improvised hers and still nailed it.
Their wedding party was a blast, too!
New York City’s City Hall:
Jonah and Nikita were one of the most charismatic couples we’ve seen yet. They wed in New York City’s City Hall in stunning, whimsical wedding attire. Jonah’s floral blazer was a showstopper.
They met at Magnolia Bakery when Nikita gifted him with a piece of free cheesecake. “This doesn’t happen every day. This is a lifelong commitment,” Jonah said of his love for his new wife. They are heading to South Carolina tonight and hope to honeymoon in Disney World.
This flower girl stole the show at this City Hall wedding in New York City.
Disney World in Orlando:
Singer-actor Joey Fatone celebrated with the happy couple, Andrew and Angel, at their Orlando ceremony in Disney’s Wedding Pavilion. It was a magical occasion as the officiant asked the wedding guests to partake in the “warming of the rings” tradition, where the wedding rings are passed around to the guests, who then hold them to warm them up while wishing a blessing upon them for the newlyweds. “Just love each other and be patient,” one of their mothers said, offering advice after they tied the knot.
The former NSYNC singer was thrilled to be alongside the new bride and groom as they shared their first moments of marriage together.
They even posed for a picture-perfect memory after their Disney's Fairytale wedding ceremony:
Detroit:
Thomas and Leeann Christian are now married! They couldn’t wait to hug their families.
San Francisco City Hall:
Nathan and Liz of Southern California just said ‘I Do!’ They are headed to Italy this evening for their honeymoon.
This special couple had a traditional Hawaiian ceremony in the middle of San Francisco’s City Hall. The flowers were beautiful!
Los Angeles:
This adorable couple couldn’t wait for their first kiss as a married couple. One kiss just wasn’t enough!
Little White Chapel in Las Vegas:
Lloyd and Veronica had a hilarious, laugh-filled ceremony in Las Vegas’ famous Little White Chapel thanks to their enthusiastic Hawaiian officiant.
He even played instruments for them!
And it wouldn't be a Vegas wedding without Elvis showing up!!
South Korea:
This beautiful South Korean wedding ceremony featured many family traditions.
The newlyweds bow for their parents in honor of their family’s names.
