— -- Matthew Jaffe is a reporter for ABC News and Univision covering the 2012 presidential campaign. For the past year he traveled around the country covering the Republican primary, from the Iowa Straw Poll to the various debates to this year's primaries and caucuses. As part of his work for ABC and Univision, Jaffe, based in Chicago, has focused primarily on the importance of the Latino vote in November's election, including spending 10 days reporting from Miami on Florida's GOP primary in January and interviewing Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa in Los Angeles in April. He regularly files stories for Univision's morning show "Despierta America," Univision's English and Spanish websites, ABC News Radio and ABCNews.com.

Prior to his current position, Jaffe was based in ABC's Washington, DC bureau. From 2010 to 2011, he covered the Senate, doing extensive reporting on the near shutdown of the federal government. From 2009 to 2010, Jaffe covered the Treasury Department, Federal Reserve, financial issues and the overall economy as the nation dealt with a severe recession. He contributed on-air and off-air reporting to all ABC News broadcasts, appearing regularly on ABC News Radio and ABC News' digital channel ABC NewsNOW. In addition, he regularly anchored ABC NewsNOW technology show "Ahead of the Curve" and appeared as an analyst on a daily economic segment as the stock market opened each morning.

In 2008, Jaffe covered the vice presidential campaign of then-Senator Joe Biden, D-Del., embedded with the campaign to contribute material to all ABC News broadcasts and platforms.

Since joining ABC News in 2006, Jaffe has worked as a general assignment off-air reporter, covering a wide range of stories, including Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich's impeachment scandal, Michael Jackson's death in Los Angeles in 2009, and the congressional investigation into steroid use in baseball.

A native of Haverford, Pennsylvania, a suburb of Philadelphia, Jaffe graduated from Georgetown University with a bachelor's degree in Italian. He is fluent in Spanish, having studied in Spain, Mexico and Costa Rica.
