Nick Schifrin

— -- Nick Schifrin is an ABC News correspondent in London. In this role he reports for all ABC News broadcasts, including "ABC World News with Diane Sawyer" and "Good Morning America," as well as ABC News Radio and ABC NewsOne, the network's affiliate news service. He also regularly files for ABC News' digital platforms, including ABCNews.com.

Since moving to London in 2012, Schifrin has covered the Greek elections, the economic crisis in Cyprus, the Olympics, the pope's resignation and the attack on the U.S. embassy in Istanbul.

Prior to 2012, Schifrin served as ABC's Afghanistan-Pakistan correspondent for nearly four years. In 2011 he was one of the first journalists to arrive in Abbottabad, Pakistan, after Osama bin Laden's death, and broadcast the first video from inside bin Laden's compound. His reporting helped ABC News win an Edward R. Murrow award for its Bin Laden coverage.

Schifrin was reporting from and running ABC News' bureaus in Afghanistan and Pakistan by the time he was 28. In Afghanistan, Schifrin extensively covered the United States military surge, embedding with soldiers and marines in the southern and eastern parts of the country. He covered the 2009 and 2010 elections and documented corruption within the Afghan government. He traveled extensively throughout the country to share Afghans' stories.

In Pakistan, Schifrin regularly broke news about intelligence and military matters. He covered the war from the Pakistan's northwest, traveling to the tribal areas and the Swat Valley to document the Pakistani military's fight against the Taliban. He also exposed militant safe havens and documented how a rapidly changing Pakistan interacted with their media, civil society, and government.

Additionally, Schifrin reported from eastern Libya during the beginning of the rebels' offensive and from Iraq, including during the battle for Sadr City in May 2008.

Before moving to Afghanistan and Pakistan, Schifrin lived in India, where he interviewed the Dalai Lama in Dharamsala and won an Emmy for his work on the global food crisis' effect on India in 2008. He was one of the first international reporters to arrive on the scene following the November 2008 Mumbai attacks.

As a producer from 2002 to 2007, Schifrin covered Hurricane Katrina in Mississippi and Hurricane Wilma in southern Florida. In 2003 he covered Arnold Schwarzenegger's campaign for California governor, and in 2004 he reported on the presidential campaigns, traveling with Senator John Kerry and Senator John Edwards after the Democratic convention.

In 2006 Schifrin helped create the "World News" webcast, a daily 15-minute program designed specifically for the digital audience delivered via iTunes and ABCNews.com.

Schifrin began at ABC News as an overnight desk assistant in 2002. A native of Los Angeles, he graduated from Columbia University, where he was the managing editor of The Columbia Daily Spectator.
