— -- Yunji de Nies is an ABC News correspondent based in Atlanta. She covers the Southeast for all ABC News broadcasts and platforms, including "World News with Diane Sawyer," "Nightline" and "Good Morning America," as well as ABC News Radio, ABC News NOW and ABCNEWS.com and is an occasion substitute anchor for World News Now and America This Morning.

de Nies was previously based in Washington, DC, where she served as a White House correspondent for ABC News. Since joining ABC News in 2006, de Nies has covered a wide range of stories including the presidencies of Barack Obama and George W. Bush, President Gerald Ford's death and funeral, Saddam Hussein's execution, the 2007 UK Terror bombing and the deadly tornadoes in Lady Lake, Florida. de Nies traveled with Michelle Obama on her first solo foreign trip as First Lady interviewing her on location in Mexico City.

Prior to her assignment at the White House, de Nies worked as a correspondent for NewsOne, the network's affiliate news service. NewsOne provides live and packaged news reports for more than 200 affiliates and clients in the U.S. and around the world.

Before joining ABC News, de Nies worked for two years as a general assignment reporter for WGNO, the ABC affiliate in New Orleans. She was living and working in New Orleans when Hurricane Katrina devastated the city. She reported on the immediate events, and continued to cover the city's aftermath and recovery for 10 months after the storm.

de Nies previously worked as a special projects producer at WAGA/ FOX5 in Atlanta. While in Georgia, she also freelance reported for CNN's "Inside Politics." In addition she worked as a desk assistant for ABC News' "World News Weekend" and interned with ABC News' "Nightline."

Her career in journalism began in radio, while she was in college. She graduated with honors with a degree in political science from Yale University and a Masters Degree in Journalism from University of California at Berkeley. She grew up in Kona, HI and San Francisco, CA.
