W A S H I N G T O N, June 26, 2003 -- Ted Koppel hosts Anthony Swofford, Marine Corps veteran of the first Gulf War and author of Jarhead, and account of his tour of duty, to discuss the lasting personal impact of military service and the experience of coming home.

ANTHONY SWOFFORD: Anthony Swofford is the author of Jarhead a personal account of his nine-month tour of duty as a U.S. Marine in the Middle East. Swofford served in a Surveillance and Target Acquisition/Scout-Sniper platoon during the first Gulf War. After the war, he was educated at American River College; the University of California Davis and the University of Iowa Writer's Workshop. He has taught at the University of Iowa, and at Lewis and Clark College.
