Gingrich in Virginia to quit, Romney in Virginia to campaign, plus more to watch for Wednesday in politics

— -- Newt Gingrich is scheduled to officially end his campaign Wednesday afternoon in Arlington, Va. — a development that was anticipated for some time and announced last week.

"All of us have an obligation I think to do whatever we can to defeat Barack Obama," Gingrich said in a video released Tuesday that did not mention Mitt Romney. "I want you to know that we're going to continue out there on the road. Callista and I will be talking, campaigning, making speeches, doing everything we can to help defeat Barack Obama."

Romney also will be in Virginia, a key battleground state in the general election. At some point during Romney's swing through Virginia, Gov. Bob McDonnell, a potential running mate, will appear with him.

And then there is this: President Barack Obama participates in an Ambassador Credentialing Ceremony at the White House where he will receive credentials from foreign ambassadors recently posted to Washington, D.C. The event is a traditional ceremony that marks the formal beginning of an ambassador's service.

And this: The John Edwards trial continues, and Cheri Young, wife of former aide Andrew Young, will be back on the witness stand.
