Romney says it's Obama who is the ‘outsourcer-in-chief'

— -- Mitt Romney pushed back on Democratic claims he outsourced jobs overseas while head of Bain Capital, suggesting that President Barack Obama is more guilty of sending jobs out of the country than he is.

"If there's an outsourcer-in-chief, it's the president of the United States, not the guy who is running to replace him," Romney said at a town hall in Grand Junction, Colo., referring to language from a recent Obama attack ad.

Romney's remarks came as his campaign and the Republican National Committee launched a counterattack to Obama's outsourcing claims. On Tuesday, the RNC unveiled a new website, ObamanomicsOutsourced.com, that accused the president of having "shipped the recovery overseas."

Until today, Romney has largely ignored Obama's attacks on outsourcing, in favor of maintaining his assaults on Obama's "failed" economic record. But amid hand-wringing from Republicans who worry the Romney campaign is not aggressively responding to Obama's attacks on Bain and the candidate's immense personal wealth, the Republican nominee seemed to go out of his way to broach both subjects.

"I went out and began a business, and the business turned out to be far more successful than I ever would have imagined," Romney said of his tenure at Bain Capital.

Responding to Obama's tax cut proposal unveiled Monday, Romney accused the president of introducing a plan that would hurt small businesses and said it adds "insult to injury" to a country already suffering under high unemployment and dismal job creation numbers.

"It's the sort of thing only an extreme liberal could come up with," Romney declared.
