Palin Targeted (Again) by Canadian Comedian

Nov. 28, 2009— -- Former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin was recently the target of another Canadian comedian in a video segment that aired on CBC TV's comedy show "This Hour Has 22 Minutes" -- a news parody show similar to "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart."

Canadian comedian Mary Walsh ambushed Palin at a Borders book signing event last week in Ohio, arriving at the bookstore in character as the wildly conservative Marg Delahunty.

In the segment that eventually aired, she referred to Palin as the "thrilla from Wasilla, the Alaskan Aphrodite."

"Any words of encouragement for the Canadian conservatives who have worked so hard to try to diminish that kind of socialized medicine we have up there?" Walsh yelled to Palin as the former Alaska governor was signing copies of her 'Going Rogue" book.

Walsh was pushed out of the Borders store as Palin tried to answer but later caught up with her as she boarded her tour bus.

"Well, my answer was too keep the faith," Palin told her, "My answer was to keep the faith. Cause that common sense conservatism can be plugged-in there in Canada too. In fact Canada needs to reform its health care system and let the private sector take over some of what the government has absorbed. So thank you, keep the faith."

The question was designed to embarrass Palin because, as Raw Story first blogged, polls show a majority of Canadians support universal health care and believe the health care system in Canada is superior to the U.S.

The liberal Center for American Progress' Web site ThinkProgress.org blogged about the segment, and the story was later picked up by Raw Story and the Huffington Post.

It's not the first time Palin has been targeted by a Canadian comedian.

Days before the presidential election in 2008, Montreal radio deejays convinced the then-vice presidential candidate that she was on the phone with French President Nicolas Sarkozy.
