'He Needs to Rethink That'

I mean, I am glad he brought up health care. But does he think we've forgotten the Republicans have had control for the past 6 years? And in that time, they never proposed anything with regard to health care???? -- atlantachick

I liked that the president addressed energy issues but I didn't like that he didn't address global warming because I think it's a very huge issue that we're facing.On the war in Iraq, President Bush thinks we need to keep fighting to make sure the enemies don't attack us but in reality we're actually making more enemies, so I think he needs to rethink that, and environmental issues. -- Katie, West Palm Beach, Fla.

What the president has planned for this country has the potential to make lasting changes, if carried out properly. Energy conservation, alternative fuels and climate change will definitely help. But as citizens of this world - WE must take responsibility. We have to do what we can and do our part. What we do today sets the foundation for our tomorrow. -- Shaun Wright, Miami, Fla.

For a minute there I thought Bush was a Democrat. Wow what was that? Some of those proposals were some of the most liberal I have ever heard exposed by any president -- Democrat or Republican. -- seekingtruthnotspin

While the president did mention the no child left behind act, I think we need to focus on what we're going to do to help those schools who have faltering math and science scores, and how there are greater socioeconomic meanings as to why these schools may not be succeeding. -- Colleen, Bradford, Penn.

The president said the best medical system is made by people with their doctors. This may be true and it's all well and good if you happen to have one. My question is this: does the president believe that this nation's children should be universally educated, but not cared for? -- Chris, South Carolina

Global warming is a scientifically proven inevitability. So what is President Bush doing to protect us from it? President Bush proposes hybrid cars and ethanol to get us off of gas. But what do these things have in common? These both require gas. They're the methadone to our addiction and they aren't our solution. President Bush wants a gas patch. Sending more troops to Iraq just isn't the answer. Putting more troops in harms way in a civil war in Iraq isn't going to bring peace and stability in Iraq and just going to cause more money to be spent on a hopeless cause. It's time to wind our involvement down in Iraq. That's what we voted for in November and that's what I want to see. -- Richard, Illinois

I agree with the president's strong position on our need to combat radical Islam. There is no amount of money the U.S. can spend to keep us safe from these radical groups. We need to gain the support of the non-radical Islam countries and have them temper these radical elements. We need to take action..Like many others I've experienced the loss of a friend in Iraq.
