SNEAK PEEK:In the Kitchen, Taking the Heat

November 2, 2007— -- The 2008 presidential candidates turn up in some interesting places this weekend – John McCain drops by a Hot Dog Heaven in Irmo, SC; Mitt Romney plays it both ways and stops by the Republican tailgates for Univ. of Michigan and Michigan State at the rivals' annual football showdown; John Edwards rebuilds in New Orleans, and Joe Biden stops by homecoming events at Wofford College in Spartanburg, SC.

And Hillary Clinton? She's keeping her feet firmly planted in the presidential kitchen, reports ABC News' Kate Snow and Eloise Harper report.

Clinton is not likely to show up on Friday's edition of VH1's Best Week Ever after the "piling on" she took from her opponents after Tuesday's debate, but she told reporters in Concord, New Hampshire, "If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen; I'm very much at home in the kitchen."

With all of the candidates packing in events on the campaign trail this weekend, there are several key things to keep an eye on…

The latest ABC News/Washington Post poll, released on Sunday morning. With one year to go before Election Day, the poll looks at the political landscape in Washington and out on the presidential campaign trail. Before you do anything else on Sunday morning be sure to log on to www.abcnews.com/pollingunit for the latest numbers.

New Hampshire Secretary of State Bill Gardner. The most in-demand man in politics right now, Gardner could be close to announcing his state's primary date which would put the final piece in the early voting puzzle. Gardner has said he would announce the primary date in early November after the state's filing period ends, so an announcement could come any time. We don't expect the media-savvy Gardner to do anything over the weekend, but that doesn't mean he won't be trailed by eager state and national reporters as he goes about his weekend activities.

John Edwards on "This Week with George Stephanopoulos." Edwards sat down with Stephanopoulos on the campaign trail in South Carolina for an interviewing airing Sunday on ABC News.

Edwards heads to New Orleans on Saturday to participate in a rebuilding project with Habitat for Humanity in The Musicians' Village in the city's Upper Ninth Ward. He will be joined by five winners of an online contest sponsored by his campaign. Later Edwards will deliver the keynote address at the Step It Up 2007 National Day of Climate Action rally in the Big Easy.

Bill Clinton on the campaign trail. The former president heads out west in support of his wife's campaign and public events. Bill Clinton stops in California Saturday for the American Democracy Institute's 3rd Annual "Empower Change" summit at UCLA and hosts an event to raise money for the victims of the recent wildfires. Clinton headlines two rallies for Hillary Clinton's campaign – Sunday in Salt Lake City, Utah and Monday in Las Vegas, NV at the Andre Agassi College Preparatory Academy.

Bill Richardson in Playboy: No, no, get your mind out of the gutter. Richardson told Playboy magazine in an interview that he will never go negative, will never attack his Democratic opponents personally but he will emphasize his advantage over Clinton and Obama. This message follows up on his defense of Clinton in Tuesday's debate in Philadelphia.

ABC News' Sarah Amos reports that Richardson also reveals details about his bad-boy side: the cursing, the cigar-smoking, and his struggle to lose weight.

"Yeah, I swear. Yeah, I smoke a cigar occasionally. Yeah, I make mistakes. The American people should know who I am," Richardson said in the December issue of Playboy magazine.

Also on Sunday morning, Fred Thompson stops by NBC's "Meet the Press," and Joe Biden appears on "Face the Nation."
