SNEAK PEEK: ‘Tested. Ready. Now.’

SNEAK PEEK: Clinton: Obama Should Know He Isn't Ready

December 14, 2007— -- 20 Days Until the Iowa Caucuses

In a must-see interview with Charlie Rose airing Friday night, Bill Clinton calls Barack Obama's experience into question by comparing the Illinois Democrat to himself in 1988.

Clinton said that he had enough talent to be elected president that year but he knew that he was not ready to be president.

"I knew in my bones I shouldn't run," said Clinton, "that I was a good enough politician to win, but I didn't think I was ready to be president."

Asked if a vote for Obama is a roll of the dice, Clinton said, "It's less predictable, isn't it? I mean when is the last time we elected a president based on one year of service in the Senate before he started running?"

Speaking of Obama, be sure to check out the video of a 5th grader asking him what he would do if U.S. troops were not yet back from Iraq when illegal immigrants start "to take action and start bombing buildings and stuff."

The kid's father -- Tod Bowman (of secret conversation with Hillary Clinton fame) -- told ABC News on Friday that his son's question was likely prompted by immigration ads which have been bombarding Iowa in advance of the state's Jan. 3 caucuses.

'Rudy's Rebranding'

Rudy Giuliani aims to reframe the Republican race with a Saturday speech in Tampa, Fla.

"What America needs in 2008," Giuliani plans to say, "is a proven leader who will get things done."

The former New York mayor's effort to lay out a broad governing vision comes as he has lost ground nationally and in New Hampshire.

Giuliani's decision to deliver the speech in the Sunshine State is no coincidence.

Per ABC's Jake Tapper, "Giuliani's campaign has long since banked on winning in Florida . . . and then cleaning up in the sort of national primary on Feb. 5, 'Super Duper Tuesday,' when more than 20 states are holding contests." LINK

Look for Giuliani's rivals to portray Saturday's speech as an effort to shift focus away from a spate of negative stories.

"The unappealing narrative that has enveloped his campaign is one that has given many Republicans pause," Romney spokesman Kevin Madden told ABC News. "The disclosure that city taxpayers were billed for a police detail that was provided to a private citizen, along with all the coverage of Bernie Kerik's indictment, made people stop and think."

"It's becoming clear," he added, "that voters are now less inclined to support a candidate who is unable to draw a stark contrast with the Democrats on the issue of higher ethical standards."
