SNEAK PEEK: 'God Love Her'
As we draw closer to the Iowa caucuses, a recent poll has Obama in the lead
January, 1 2008 -- 2 Days Until the Iowa Caucuses
New Year's Day 2008 was a sweet one for Barack Obama.
At a time when some thought he was slipping in Iowa, the Des Moines Register's poll showed him widening his lead under its "unprecedented" turnout model. LINK
John Edwards paid a small but symbolic price for being caught on tape acting "imperial" with Hillary Clinton. LINK
And it was Clinton -- not Obama -- who had Joe Biden questioning her foreign-policy chops. LINK
On Wednesday, four Democratic '08ers -- Clinton, Obama, Edwards, and Biden -- are planning to air their closing arguments in lengthy ads: The Clinton and Obama ads, which are two minutes long, air throughout the state during 6:00 pm CT newscasts. The Edwards ad is 90 second and airs during 5 pm CT newscasts. Biden's 60-second ad airs in Cedar Rapids.
On the Republican side, Joe Lieberman makes it possible for John McCain to return to the Hawkeye State while Mike Huckabee heads to Burbank, Calif., to grace Jay Leno's couch.
Tuesday TiVo alert:
Tune into Nightline at 11:35 pm ET on Tuesday evening for wall-to-wall political coverage: Jake Tapper looks at the Republicans, David Wright looks at the Democrats, and George Stephanopoulos looks ahead.
In Tapper's piece, Mitt Romney defends himself against John McCain's new web video questioning his foreign-policy chops by saying that Ronald Reagan had only been a governor before he was elected.

McCain acidly shot back, saying: "Apparently those credentials were not good enough for Governor Romney to vote for him," referring to Romney's one-time coolness to the Reagan-Bush brand.
