SNEAK PEEK: Reaching for the Rolaids
Even with considerable investment, Giuliani has difficulties in N.H.
January 8, 2008 -- If Rudy Giuliani finishes near the bottom of the pack in New Hampshire, it will not be for a lack of trying.
According to an ABC News tally of his campaign events, the former New York mayor has held more campaign events in New Hampshire (126) than John McCain (104). The only G.O.P. candidate who has held more Granite State events than Hizzoner is Mitt Romney (176).
He also has made a substantial investment on television.
While Giuliani never went on the air in Iowa, he spent $2.5 million on New Hampshire television ads. It was only when his campaign saw that he was losing ground in the state that he scaled back his advertising and re-emphasized his commitment to Florida, which votes Jan. 29, and the more than 20 states which vote on Feb. 5.
Look for Giuliani to downplay tonight's results and focus on Florida. But back in November, the former New York mayor expressed little interest in putting a Sunshine State strategy to the test.
"'It is not inconceivable," Giuliani told The Washington Post's Dan Balz, "that you could, if you won Florida [after losing in the early states], turn the whole thing around. "'I'd rather not do it that way. That would create ulcers for my entire staff and for me. . . . We want to win as many of the early ones as possible. That's why we're here [New Hampshire] and not in Florida right now.'"

New Hampshire results could reverberate in Nevada:
Tuesday's Democratic results in New Hampshire could reverberate in Nevada which is scheduled to hold its caucuses on Jan. 19.
At 11:00 pm ET, a 12-member panel which controls the 60,000-member Culinary Workers union will hold a conference call to decide which '08 candidate to endorse.
The endorsement decision will be announced in Las Vegas on Wednesday at 2:00 pm ET.
As the candidate who has already won Iowa and who is favored to win New Hampshire, Democratic insiders see Barack Obama as favored to win this endorsement.
The union itself, however, says no decision has yet been made.
If Obama does win Culinary's backing, he could hold an event with the union on Friday when he is scheduled to be in Las Vegas. The panel making the decision is the executive committee of UNITE-HERE, Culinary's parent union.
The kicker:
"Fox was, is, and will continue to be an asinine and ignorant network. I have not spoken to anyone in the Clinton campaign about this. I have not done domestic political consulting since President Clinton was elected. I'm not getting back into domestic political consulting. If I do go back, it would be safe to say that I'm the biggest liar in America."--James Carville on Fox report saying he and Paul Begala were joining Clinton campaign LINK
