'Obama Fatigue'

August 7, 2008— -- With Barack Obama headed to Hawaii for a week-long hiatus to cure the nation's "Obama fatigue," Hillary Clinton will steal the show Friday when her solo surrogate work on Obama's behalf begins in Nevada.

Actually, Friday will make it three days now that Clinton has commanded headlines. And Obama's fine with his former presidential rival stirring the pot for now, if only to avoid contention at the convention.

Let's face it, Clinton is not yet ready to relinquish the possibility of having her name placed into nomination and Obama would rather avoid it.

Clinton, speaking to supporters during an online chat, was asked whether or not her name would be nominated at the Democrats' Denver convention. She said, "Senator Obama and I share the goal of ensuring that the voices of everyone who participated in this historic process are respected."

Obama, flying from Minneapolis to Chicago, was pressed by reporters on whether he would allow a floor vote.

He said, per ABC's Sunlen Miller, "I'm letting our respective teams work out the details. I don't think we're looking for catharsis. I think what we're looking for is energy and excitement about the prospects of changing this country."

So while the Obama and Clinton staffs settle on whether to show half the party voting for the runner-up, or a vote by acclamation, Clinton registers voters and attends a 3:15 pm ET Campaign for Change rally in Henderson, Nevada.

Meanwhile, Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., visits the Iowa State Fair, which was the center of the political universe last year in the run up to the Iowa GOP's Straw Poll. The McCain campaign will be working hard to review all donations bundled by Harry Sargeant III, the head of a Florida oil trading company, following word that his foreign business partner may have engaged in political fundraising.
