Bernie Sanders Dances on Ellen DeGeneres Show

Sanders came out onstage bobbing his head and jiving to Ash’s disco song.

“You’re dancing Bernie. That’s fantastic,” DeGeneres said. During the commercial breaks, the 74-year-old Vermont senator continued to clap his hands to the music and seemed to be genuinely having a fun time on the bright set.

Ellen complimented Sanders for his breakout moment during the debate when he said he was tired of the conversation about Hillary Clinton’s emails. “A lot of people like you a lot,” she said. And I think what you said about the emails -- that it should not be political -- I think that is the exact thing that people are sick of, people being political.

“I think people just need to hear you say what you feel,” she said. She added that she loved that Sanders does not run negative ads and called out Republicans for what she sees as too much “attacking” and “bullying.”

Sanders and DeGeneres went on to talk about taxes and corporate greed, but the highlight of the interview was a final lighting round of questions she conducted with Sanders.

If he was a Ben and Jerry’s ice cream flavor, what would his name be? “Bern Baby Bern.”

“So it would be hot and spicy,” DeGeneres asked in return. “I don’t know if I’ve ever had an ice cream that burns.”

The audience got quite a laugh from one question in particular. “Have you ever been in handcuffs?” DeGeneres asked.

“Yes,” Sanders said without hesitation, drawing a big laugh from the audience. “I don’t know exactly what you mean by that,” he continued after a moment.

DeGeneres quipped. "Ok he’s calling it a ‘civil rights’ thing.”
