Boston Globe Publishes Satirical Front Page Imagining a Trump Presidency

— -- The Boston Globe will publish on Sunday a satirical front page -- dated Sunday, April 9, 2017 -- for its Ideas section that imagines what a Donald Trump presidency would look like.

The main ficticious front page story screams, "DEPORTATIONS TO BEGIN: President Trump calls for tripling of ICE force; riots continue," while additional stories include "Markets sink as trade war looms," "US soldiers refuse orders to kill ISIS families," and "Trump on Nobel prize short list."

An editor's note at the bottom of the page reads, "This is Donald's Trump's America. What you read on this page is what might happen if the GOP front-runner can put his ideas into practice, his words into action. Many Americans might find this vision appealing, but the Globe's editorial board finds it deeply troubling. Read our editorial...for more on the dangers of Trump's vision."

The editorial, titled "GOP Must Stop Trump," states the the satirical front page "is an exercise in taking a man at his word. And his vision of America promises to be as appalling in real life as it is in black and white on the page. It is a vision that demands an active and engaged opposition. It requires an opposition as focused on denying Trump the White House as the candidate is flippant and reckless about securing it."

There are some lighter moments in the fictitious stories, including a reference to Yellowstone National Park being renamed after Trump, and citing former "Apprentice" contestant-turned-Trump supporter Omarosa Manigault as the education secretary.

The Trump campaign has yet to respond to a request for comment.
