Ellen DeGeneres, Magic Johnson, Nick Jonas Among Celebs at Obama's 55th Birthday Party at the White House
Guests included Ellen DeGeneres, Magic Johnson and Nick Jonas.
-- President Barack Obama celebrated his 55th birthday Friday night with a star-studded, blowout birthday bash at the White House.
Although the hand-picked guest list was not released in advance, and the majority of guests did not confirm they were attending, nor post anything on social media about the soiree immediately after it ended, the identities of some of the bold-faced attendees have begun to trickle out. Obama turned 55 on Thursday.
Singer Nick Jonas revealed on Twitter that he attended the party, writing at 3:21 a.m., "Tonight was a night I will never forget. #BarackObama #happybirthday."
Magic Johnson's wife, Cookie, posted on Instagram a photo of the couple with actor Samuel L. Jackson and LaTanya Richardson, writing "#AboutLastNight Our President knows how to throw a great party, we had so much fun, I can barely walk today, LOL! Happy Birthday Mr. President @barackobama!!!"
Before the party started, Magic Johnson tweeted a photo of himself with Cookie, writing, "Cookie and I getting ready to go to President Obama's birthday party!" Cookie tweeted the same photo, writing "Happy birthday President @BarackObama, can't wait to get down, I have on my dancing shoes."
George Lucas, creator of the "Star Wars" and "Indiana Jones" franchises, was spotted entering the White House.
NBA star Grant Hill also attended the party with his Canadian-born wife, singer Tamia. Hill posted on Instagram a photo of himself and Tamia with national security advisor Susan Rice, writing, "With my favorite girl, @realtamiaworld and my favorite Ambassador, Ambassador Susan Rice at White House for the POTUS 55th Birthday celebration..."
Tamia also posted on Instagram a photo of herself with Hill, writing, "About to shut it down after an amazing night at the White House with @realgranthill at @barackobama 55th Birthday party celebration."
Ellen DeGeneres attended, as did author and former Sean "Diddy" Combs personal assistant Fonzworth Bentley, per social media users.
On the political front, Interim Chair of the Democratic National Committee Donna Brazile was seen heading into the White House, as was former Obama senior advisor David Axelrod and Reverend Al Sharpton. Chicago mayor Rahm Emanuel, and former Obama chief of staff, was also spotted leaving the party.
"Good Morning America" anchor Robin Roberts also attended the party -- which was paid for by the Obamas, according to the White House -- as did ABC News correspondent Deborah Roberts with husband Al Roker.
A slew of A-list celebrities were also reportedly slated to attend. If its any indication, Beyonce was among the celebrities at Michelle Obama's 50th birthday party in 2014.
The first lady posted a photo of herself with the president on Instagram this week, writing, "55 years young and that smile still gets me every single day. Happy birthday, Barack. I love you. -mo"
