Hillary Clinton Celebrates Historic Victory, Sanders Vows to Fight On

Hillary Clinton and Sen. Bernie Sanders battled in six states Tuesday.

— -- Hillary Clinton celebrated her victory and sealed her place in the history books as America's first female presumptive presidential nominee for a major party.

But Bernie Sanders declared he would fight all the way to the summer convention in Philadelphia.

Voters headed to the polls in six states for Democrats' second-to-last day of primary voting.

  • Sen. Bernie Sanders won North Dakota Democratic caucuses and the Montana Democratic primary, according to the AP.

    Hillary Clinton won the New Jersey Democratic primary, according to the AP.

    New Jersey was the first of the six states up for grabs to finish voting; the others are in later time zones.

    Clinton gave the Garden State a big shout-out during her victory speech in Brooklyn.

    "Thanks especially to our friends in New Jersey for such a resounding victory tonight," she said.

    North Dakota

    Bernie Sanders wonthe North Dakota Democratic caucuses, according to the AP.

    North Dakota was the second state of the night to have its results announced.

    Sanders turned to Twitter to show his gratitude.

    New Mexico

    Clinton won the New Mexico Democratic primary, according to the AP.

    New Mexico was the third state to report its results.

    South Dakota

    Clinton won the South Dakota Democratic primary, according to the AP.

    South Dakota was the fourth state to report its results.

    Montana

    Sanders won the Montana Democratic primary, according to the AP.

    California

    Hillary Clinton won the California Democratic primary, according to the AP.
