Donald Trump Gives $10 Million of His Own Money to Presidential Campaign
New federal campaign records reveal the contribution.
— -- Donald Trump gave his campaign $10 million Friday, according to new federal campaign finance records.
The Republican presidential candidate has now given his campaign a total of $66.1 million ($18.6 million contributed and another $47.5 million in loans). This is still short of the $100 million Trump told ABC News' George Stephanopoulos he would give his own campaign.
"I mean, look, I'm gonna be in for over $100 million," Trump told Stephanopoulos on Wednesday. "I'm spending a lot of money. I will be over $100 million and it could be much more than that."
Trump told Fox News' Bret Baier Friday that he would write the $10 million check, but he may not hit the $100 million threshold, adding "we'll see what's needed."
Over the first three weeks of October, Trump had given himself only $30,682. He had been facing mounting pressure to continue to fund his presidential bid's dwindling bank account, as well as follow through on promises he had made in fundraising emails to match, double and triple the contributions of small-dollar donors.
From now until Election Day, candidates need to report any contributions over $1,000 within 48 hours to the FEC. This means that if Trump gives or loans himself any more money from here, we'll know within two days. This rule lasts until November 6 at 12:01 a.m.
