Election Cycle: Wounded Warriors Talk About Next Commander-in-Chief
Wounded warriors discussed the next president of the United States.
-- One of the groups eagerly anticipating the election is veterans, and two of them, retired Air Force Chief Petty Officer Ramon Moore and Master Sgt. Vince Loran -- wounded warriors who have turned to cycling as a form of rehabilitation -- have some advice for the next commander-in-chief.
“Just continue to care that we’re here,” said Moore. “The veterans, a lot of us gave our lives, limbs, spirits -- just don’t forget us.”
Presidents Barack Obama and George W. Bush have participated in cycling and mountain biking events with veterans, activities that Loran noted are empowering to the Wounded Warriors.
“I call [my bike] my service dog,” he said. “My body took a lot of damage."
For Moore, who first joined the military in 1987 and recently had a brain tumor removed, cycling was the key to rebounding.
“Getting back on the bike pretty much motivated my spirits and got me moving again,” said Moore.
