ExxonMobil CEO Rex Tillerson Has Emerged as Trump's Likely Pick for Secretary of State
John Bolton is likely pick as deputy secretary of state, sources tell ABC News.
-- ExxonMobil CEO Rex Tillerson has emerged as the likely pick for secretary of state in the incoming Trump administration, with former United Nations Ambassador John Bolton likely to become deputy secretary of state, three senior Trump transition officials told ABC News.
President-elect Donald Trump today in New York held his second in-person meeting with Tillerson about a possible cabinet post, Trump spokesman Hope Hicks confirmed.
The sources cautioned that Trump's decision on secretary of state may not be final. Hicks told ABC News, "No decisions or offers have been made." Trump transition spokesman Jason Miller tweeted that "no announcements on Secretary of State until next week at the earliest."
A representative for Bolton declined to comment on the reports.
ExxonMobil has not responded to ABC News' multiple requests for comment.
