Election 2016: Florida Close as Votes Still Being Counted

Preliminary data show women's vote for Hillary Clinton is tepid in the state.

One reason for that is Hillary Clinton has garnered just 51 percent of the female vote, according to preliminary exit poll results.

That number may induce some angst in the Clinton camp when compared with other battleground states. The Democratic nominee has garnered 53 percent of the female vote in Michigan and New Hampshire and 54 percent in Ohio, Wisconsin, Colorado and Georgia, according to exit poll results. In North Carolina, Clinton has 55 percent of the female vote and 58 percent in Pennsylvania.

She is, however, taking 63 percent to Donald Trump's 32 percent of the vote in Florida's Miami/Gold Coast region, which has 27 percent of the state's voters.

Florida, a key battleground state, went for Barack Obama in 2012 and 2008. George W. Bush won the state in 2004 and 2000. Bill Clinton won the state in 1996.
