Giuliani Compares Trump’s ‘Economic Genius’ to Woman Who Produces Work for FBI
The Trump adviser made the comment on ABC's "This Week."
-- Top Trump adviser Rudy Giuliani referred to the Republican nominee as “a man who has this kind of economic genius,” contrasting the GOP hopeful with Hillary Clinton, referring to the Democratic candidate as “a woman” who only produces work for the FBI.
Speaking of reports that Donald Trump claimed a $916 million loss on his 1995 income taxes, Giuliani said: “Don’t you think a man who has this kind of economic genius is a lot better for the United States than a woman -- and the only thing she’s ever produced is a lot of work for the FBI checking out her emails?”
The remarks sparked comment on social media by some who criticized the former New York mayor for using what they deemed to be dismissive language.
However others have suggested that the stress on “a woman” was not meant as a slight on her gender.
Giuliani’s office did not respond to ABC News’ request to elaborate on or clarify his comment.
The former New York City mayor said in the interview with ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos on “This Week” Sunday that Trump was “a genius” for taking advantage of tax laws allowing him to claim the loss.
“He’s a genius at how to take advantage of legal remedies that can help your company survive and grow. I want a man who’s a genius at figuring out how to take this country, that’s -- moving in the wrong direction, where we’ve had a basically jobless recovery, where we’ve had growth of less than 2 percent for two years,” he said.
