GOP Chairman Reince Priebus Tears Into Hillary Clinton in Convention Speech
Priebus assailed Clinton for lying.
-- After helming a tumultuous convention, Republican National Committee chairman Reince Priebus brought GOP delegates to their feet Thursday with a blistering attack against Hillary Clinton -- ripping into her record at the State Department and accusing her of using politics to enrich herself.
“Hillary Clinton has perfected the art of politics for personal gain,” Priebus said. “She reads ethics rules as carefully as Americans read their junk mail.”
“For Hillary Clinton, the Oval Office is just another cash cow,” he added.
The embattled party leader hit one of the few notes that has resounded with all Republicans this week. At one point, delegates responded to his Clinton attacks by chanting ‘lock her up!’
Turning to his own party’s nominee, Priebus called Donald Trump the “right man to lead that charge” against Clinton.
“With Donald Trump and Mike Pence, America is ready for a comeback after almost a decade of Clinton-Obama failures,” he said.
Speaking roughly 90 minutes after Arizona Sheriff Joe Arpaio promised Trump would build a wall on the US-Mexico border, Priebus called the GOP “the party of the open door.”
Priebus said a Clinton presidency “means forgetting our friends and enabling our enemies."
On Wednesday night, Donald Trump questioned the NATO alliance in an interview with the New York Times, prompting criticism from Republicans and Democrats as he prepares to accept the GOP presidential nomination.
