Hillary Clinton Accuses Bernie Sanders of Wanting to 'Tear Up' Obamacare
Sanders and Clinton argue over health care at fourth Democratic debate.
CHARLESTON, S.C. -- At the Democratic presidential debate here tonight, Hillary Clinton just made the argument she and her campaign have been making over the past week to Bernie Sanders’ face.
Her critique is that Sanders’ single-payer health care proposal would undo Obamacare, or the Affordable Care Act, and “start over again with a whole new debate.”
“I certainly respect Sen. Sanders’ intentions. But when you’re talking about health care, the details really matter,” she said.
“We finally have a path to universal health care. We’ve accomplished so much already. I do not want to see the Republicans repeal it, and I don’t want to see us start over again with a contentious debate.”
Sanders responded that it’s “nonsense” to suggest he would undo Obamacare, because he wants to replace it with something that would cover far more people.
“That’s the vision we need to take,” he said. “No one is tearing this up. We’re going to go forward.”
