Indiana is unique because Vigo County is considered the best predictor of presidents. Since 1888, Vigo County residents have voted for the winning candidate with only two exceptions in 1908 and in 1952, according to historian Dave Leip.

Indiana is a solidly red state, voting Democrat only once in the last ten elections: Barack Obama in 2008.
