Joe Biden on 2020 Presidential Race: 'Never Say Never'

The vice president would be 78 years old if he runs in 2020.

In an appearance on the Late Show with Stephen Colbert on Tuesday, the vice president again refused to definitively rule out a 2020 bid, even suggesting he'll be in "better shape" than Trump when the next election comes around.

"I can't see the circumstance in which I'd run but what I've learned a long long time ago Stephen is to - to never say never," he said. "You don't know what's going to happen. I mean hell Donald Trump's going to be 74. I'll be 77 in better shape. I mean, What the hell? Who knows?"

Earlier, Biden made similar comments when asked about his plans for the future.

When asked if he was joking, Biden said, "I'm not committing not to run. I'm not committing to anything. I learned a long time ago fate has a strange way of intervening."

Biden, who's served in government for nearly 46 years, said something similar about his presidential ambitions in an interview with ABC News.

Biden will be 78 if he runs for president in 2020.

Biden was a Democratic candidate for president in the 2008 election and the 1988 election. The vice president toyed with running in 2016 but ultimately made the decision not to run.
