Krugman: Trump Is 'Completely Incoherent on Economic Policy'

— -- Nobel prize winning economist and New York Times columnist Paul Krugman is not impressed with presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump’s economic policy proposals.
“Trump is completely incoherent on economic policy,” Krugman said on ABC’s “This Week.” “I mean, you can find him on any given day supporting almost anything.”
After a disappointing jobs report released Friday, which showed the U.S. economy added only 38,000 jobs of the 164,000 expected, Krugman squared off with Americans for Tax Reform President Grover Norquist on how the economy will shape the 2016 presidential race.
Norquist fired back at Krugman, in defense of Trump. “It's written down. And I think the proposal that [Trump] has -- getting rid of the death tax, getting rid of the AMT finally, taking the corporate and business takes to 15 percent, he's actually going to be a great advantage to the gig economy,” he said.
Trade unions have criticized the gig economy, which includes companies like Uber and Air BnB, for its treatment of workers. They argue it has contributed to slower economic growth by replacing full time jobs with poorly paid temporary work. But Norquist said Trump’s support for the fast growing sector will win him votes.
“Hillary is on the wrong side of the future, on the wrong side of the gig economy, the sharing economy,” Norquist said. “Trump has a tax plan to make it easier for people to be self-employed.”
