Marco Rubio (Sort of) Endorses Ted Cruz, Shuts Down VP Speculation
Marco Rubio also ruled out being Donald Trump's VP pick.
— -- Florida Sen. Marco Rubio Tuesday endorsed Texas senator and Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz for president, sort of.
In one of his first interviews since dropping out of the presidential race, Rubio sat down with conservative host Mark Levin for a video podcast to discuss a wide range of issues, including who he believes should be president.
"I hope that they’ll nominate a conservative," Rubio said. "The only one [presidential candidate] that fits that criteria is Ted Cruz.”
Rubio also slammed the Republican debates and the way they were promoted as reality TV.
"Who is going to get voted off the island this week?" Rubio said.
Despite Rubio's half-hearted endorsement of the Texas senator, he has not completely withdrawn from the race. By suspending his campaign, the delegates he collected during the primary will still be bound to him on the first ballot of an open convention.
Rubio also shouted down any speculation that he could be Donald Trump's vice presidential pick, after the billionaire said he would consider Rubio to be on his ticket.
“I’m not going to be the vice president," the Florida senator said.
