Melania Trump's Election Night Outfit? A $4,000 Ralph Lauren Jumpsuit Made in Italy

— -- When Donald Trump walked on stage last night at the New York Hilton Midtown to deliver his victory speech, it would be intellectually dishonest to claim that Melania Trump's ivory jumpsuit didn't make heads turn.
The first lady-to-be chose an American designer, Ralph Lauren, but the silk crepe jumpsuit was made in Italy.
The jumpsuit -- which retails at upscale Fifth Avenue department store Bergdorf Goodman for $4,000 -- did grab attention because of its fashion-forward silhouette: A one-shoulder neckline, a half sleeve at the left side, wide legs with a hem that falls to the floor.
The Slovenian-born former model is no stranger to Ralph Lauren. She wore pieces by the Bronx-born designer to the third and final presidential debate.
And her decision to wear white is also noteworthy.
Why? Because she may have taken a cue from her husband's former rival, Hillary Clinton, and in turn, the suffragists of yesteryear.
When Clinton wore a white pantsuit -- also by Ralph Lauren -- last month to the presidential debate, Booth Moore, a senior fashion editor for The Hollywood Reporter and Pret-a-Reporter, told ABC News, "The choice of a white suit ... harkened back to the not-so-distant past, when suffragists wore white to promote their struggle to gain the right to vote."
