Congressman's Missing Son Found Safe in Houston
Carl Conyers, son of Rep. John Conyers, disappeared Wednesday.
-- The missing son of Rep. John Conyers, Jr. was found safe early Friday morning, the Houston Police Department confirmed to ABC News.
Carl Conyers, 21, was found at 2:20 a.m., police said. Conyers, a student at the University of Houston, had liked a tweet earlier in the night, which led police to him, according to KTRK, an ABC affiliate.
Prior to going missing, he was last seen by roommates on Tuesday
His girlfriend, Daisha Lewis, told WWJ Newsradio 950 in Detroit that she was supposed to meet him on campus Wednesday, but that he never showed. When she and friends checked his apartment they found some clothes and other items missing, the Associated Press reported.
“Rep. Conyers and his family ask for privacy as they work through this situation of uncertainty and ask that anyone with knowledge of their son’s whereabouts, contact the Houston Police Department immediately,” the Michigan Democrat said in a statement on Thursday.
ABC News' Matthew Fuhrman and the Associated Press contributed to this report.
